My first continuing cartoon character was Sesame Street’s Suzie Kabloozie. Voiced by the irrepressible Ruth Buzzi, Suzie essentially teaches educational concepts while making her cat miserable.
When I started these films they were still made by inking and painting cels, then laying them over coin rubbings as backgrounds (like this:)
But by the end of series a five or so years later, the inking was done on paper, then scanned into an animation program on a computer. The result is much the same as witnessed by this clip. You just don’t get any cool cels at the end of the process.
PS: Thanks to Fuse #8 and the Baton Rouge Advocate for their recent kind words.
