We just got back from the NY International Children’s Film Festival Awards screening. Wow. What a screening. Firstly, all of the films were excellent (some were super excellent, and Jon Izen’s Black and White shorts were CRAAAAZY excellent).
I also got to run into my old pal Bob Charde, a Blue's Clues grad who now composes music for animation, but started in the biz as my main cel-painter back in the Suzie Kabloozie days when he was getting out of the prosthetic-limb-building biz. (Really.) It’s always fun to see old pals and catch up.
Then, came the awards. Knuffle Bunny won the Kids’ Audience Award (age 3-6). Cool!
Then it won the Parent’s Audience Award! Hubba-Wha?
Then, it won Grand Prize. Hubba-schmubba-habba-whobba-whaaaa?
(Here's the slightly altered trophy:)
Nothing like a sweep to help a head cold...
The Willems clan was thrilled, especially when they screened the flick and the audience actually laughed despite the hype. Thanks to all who voted Knuffle!
Need mo’ good news? Thanks to you and your pals, Knuffle Bunny Too is climbing back up the New York Times Bestseller list to #3 on its 18th week on the list.
So much for the weekend, now back to work…
