All the best in 09...

Thanks for visiting in the past year. 2009 promises to be filled with new books (and new kinds of books), theatrical news, cartoons, and most excitingly... things yet unknown.

Rock on.

Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed Tour '09!

The New Year means New Books. In my case it's the tale of a buck-naked, buck-tooth Naked Mole Rat with a penchant for clothing.

I sure hope you'll pick up a copy at your local bookshop or library.

To promote this underground work, I'll be visiting old friends and new places to read, answer questions, and sign books. If you're in the neighborhood please drop on by.

(And remember to check with the venues to confirm schedule and their signing rules)

Muscle Men!

Oh, and here are two weird little bits:

Having left Brooklyn this summer, I make the Park Slope 100 list (along with pals Jon Scieszka and Jon Hodgman).

My annual gift sketchbook gets reviewed. I’d love to publish them all as a volume one day; I’m sure Lisa Yee would like it.

Publishers Weekly has just posted a new interview about Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed, Radio Cartoons, and Museum shows.

I hope you find it a fun read...

Some guy named James Patterson has started up a cool Guys Read-esque site with lists of fun books for all kinds of kids called ReadKiddoRead. In addition to shout outs for The Pigeon, Knuffle Bunny, and Elephant and Piggie, the site is chock full of great books and good reasons why one of your pals might like them.

The Louisville, KT has gotten in the act as well, recommending titles, including The Pigeon Wants a Puppy!

Holiday Desk Bunny!

It’s time for me to thank you for your support this year with a little gift. Last year’s Pigeon Book Plate was such a hit, I thought I’d up the ante this year with a printable, cutable, personal Knuffle Bunny Holiday Desk Bunny!

Just click on the image to enlarge, print out, follow the instructions and voila!* You’ve got your own personal desk bunny to keep you company this holiday season.

Thanks to all my supporters and here’s hoping for a peaceful 2009.

Rock on!

*After you've cut out your desk bunny, why not try some designs of your own? It's fun!

Quick news...

Thanks to everyone in Nashville at the IRA Regional conference. If you’re near Amherst, MA on Sunday, drop by the Eric Carle Picture Book Museum at 12:30 where I’ll be chatting, signing and maybe showing a sooper-sneaky-sneak peek of an animated project.

Elephant and Piggie make the Pittsburgh paper's end of year list, while Elephant and Piggie and Knuffle Bunny Too make it on The News & Observer (NC) list.

Oh, and you want a French interview, do you? Well, you got it…

Monday, December 8, 2008

This week will see my two final appearances for the year, Wednesday in Nashville, TN and Sunday in Amherst, MA (see my appearances for details), but my break will be a short one.

Starting on January 6th, 2009 I’ll be traveling around the country reading and answering questions about my brand new picture book,
Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed.

Details are still coming in (I’ll post all the events once they’re confirmed), but it looks like I’ll be visiting Boston, MA; New York, NY; Clinton, NJ; Philly, Haverford and Fairless Hills, PA; Washington, DC; Baltimore, MD; Minneapolis, MN; St. Louis, MO.

Please drop by if you’re in the neighborhood.

Rock on.

The Pigeon is Mad as Heck and He's Not Gonna Take It Anymore! (Yay fan Mail)

"And that's for not letting me get a puppy!"

Yay, fan mail. Here's a sample from the latest batch (you can click on the images to make them bigger).

This one takes the cake*:

An awesome edit for the ending of Edwina the Dinosaur Who Didn't Know She Was Extinct:

A Pigeon story ripped from today's headlines: Don't Let the Pigeon Be President!

Is that Sarah as the Bus Driver? You Betcha!

Here are some drawings I just loved:

Here I am at work on Fan Mail Day opening a letter from my biggest fans ever:

If you have a somewhat smaller missive, send it to:

Mo Willems fan mail
c/o Christian Trimmer
Hyperion Books for Children,

Please BE PATIENT. It can take a while for me to get your mail. Huzzah!

*Thank you, thank you. I'll be here all week!

Quick bits...

The Herald Mail thinks Elephant and Piggie's adventures are some of the best books of 2008.

And my British publisher, Walker Books, has a quick mini-peek at 2009’s Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed.

Holiday Radio Cartoon is Up!

Michele Norris and I traded holiday gags last evening on NPR's All Things Considered.

Give it a listen.

Oh, here's the drawing with the revealed caption:

And check out the remaining cartoons and listener submitted captions for batch 2.

Happy Holidays and Sinterklaas!

Awwwwwwwwwwww some!

At the Book-a-mania fest in Chicago I was joined by fans Aidan, 3, and Jacob, 9 months, dressed as their favorite friends Elephant and Piggie.

There was also a kid dressed as Tony (the monster will all those teeth) from Leonardo the Terrible Monster. I've noticed more kids dressing up at these festivals, which I think is cool. You can never start too early for Comicon...

The Pigeon Wants a Puppy!
was named a best book by Nick Jr. Magazine for 2008. Thanks for the continued support guys!

Here’s an updated Pigeon Mural at the NCCIL:

If you’re in Abilene, TX you should drop by. It’s a fun show.

And here you can see pictures from the opening at the R. Michaelson Gallery. It was great fun to see a bunch of pals and their work. If you’re in Northampton, MA you should drop by. It’s a fun show.
