With the passing of Maurice Sendak last week, I was asked by a few folks to speak about his influence on children's books in general and my work in specific. I only met Maurice once, so I can't speak as a pal, but we had many friends in common. More importantly, I had his work to inspire me.
Over at The Comics Journal, I reflect on Sendak's work along with other cartoonists like pal Mark Newgarden and the great Seth.
Here is my chat with local DJ and pal Monte Belmonte.
Kurt Anderson from NPR's Studio 360 called and we had a pretty interesting chat.
