Elephant & Piggie's WE ARE IN A PLAY!

Yesterday, the Kennedy Center announced their upcoming season which includes a new comission, Elephant and Piggie's WE ARE IN A PLAY!

I've been working and writing on the piece for almost a year now in semi-secrecy.

The team during our first workshop at Knuffle Manor in May of 2012. That's me, composer Deborah Wicks La Puma, KC big wig Kim Kovac, and dramaturg Megan Alrutz.
Deborah gets right to work as we need songs!
Megan is amused and we've barely started writing.
We've assembled much of the same team that worked on 2010's KNUFFLE BUNNY: A CAUTIONARY MUSICAL and have already spent time in workshop.

Full on workshop at the KC in DC last August. Who's excited?

Our astute and patient director, Jerry Whiddon
I'm having such a ball and think that this show, an extended riff on many of the Elephant and Piggie books, is more fun than the last show.

The Squirelles

In addition to your favorite pachyderm and swine, the show will feature The Squirelles, a trio of background singers, and Dr. Cat and the Bear-a-tones, a live band.  This show is going to rock!

The workshop cast and crew from August.
Performances begin November 23rd, 2013 at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, and the show will run through until New Year's Eve.

I'll be attending opening day and there will be a special signing and some other events (stay tuned).

If the Knuffle Bunny Musical is any guide, tickets will sell out.  I'll post when they're available from the KC (they usually allow members first crack at them).

I hope you can make it to the show, it's going to be fun!
