April 1st marks the 11th anniversary of the publication of my first book, Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!

Because of the support of Librarians, Teachers, Parents, Grand-Parents, and Fans the last 11 years have been a wonderful ride filled with opportunities for me to write, draw, and meet fantastic kids and grown-ups all over the world.

Thank you for this gift.

This month has a bunch of fun stuff going on, including the publication of a brand new Pigeon book, The Pigeon Needs a Bath! (mo' on that below)

I'm on sabbatical for the year.  While I will be making various appearances in Europe and beyond, mostly I'll be spending time at the home base in Paris, France drawing and doodling.

You can check out my experiments over at Universal U-Click for a comic-strip-doodle-thingie called PARIS DOODLES . The strip runs drawings, dining room dinner doodles, and photos on weekdays.

A fun exhibit in Seoul, Korea!  "The Pigeon Goes to Seoul: A Children's Exhibition Celebrating Mo Willems" is currently at Seongnam Arts Center.

808, Seongnam-daero,

The show is filled with a large selection of my book work including various interactive activities and runs though June 8, 2014.

On view through April 27 at the Internationale Jugendbibliothek in Munich, Germany is a show entitled Knuffle Bunny Meets Rosa Parks. Award-winning American Picture Books from the Lawrence R. Sipe Collection

THE PIGEON NEEDS A BATH!  has landed on the shelves!  I hope you enjoy Pigeon's latest adventure in basic hygiene!

The folks at Babble have a few preview pictures and a short interview that includes the following video starring Rock Dove:

You can see more of Rock Dove's work in this earlier report he filed.

In addition, two new versions of Cat the Cat Books will be released at the end of the month.  The first out of the gate of these slightly revised BOARD BOOK versions are WHO IS THAT, CAT THE CAT? and  WHO FLIES, CAT THE CAT? Mo' info can be gleaned at

The folks at the Kennedy Center have posted 3 documentary videos about the creation of ELEPHANT & PIGGIE'S WE ARE IN A PLAY! They're pretty great and give a peek into the actual production of the musical in addition to what went into it.

You can check out all the videos HERE.

The Kennedy Center also made some videos about KNUFFLE BUNNY: A CAUTIONARY MUSICAL a few years back.  Those are here.

Speaking of KNUFFLE BUNNY: A CAUTIONARY MUSICAL, a new production opens up on April 19 at the GROWING STAGE Children's Theater of New Jersey in Netcong, NJ.  The show runs through May 18.  Full details are HERE.

Award Seal designed by Maurice Sendak

I'm thrilled that THAT IS NOT A GOOD IDEA! has been named a finalist for the Irma Black Award, administered by the fine folks at the Bank Street School.  What makes this award particularly exciting is that real 1st and 2nd graders from all over the world get to vote for their favorite picture book of the year.

If you want your students to have a say, you can register here (voting ends April 20). So, go vote!
